The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music decided to move their department newsletter Fermata online and asked AIMG | Accurate Imaging to develop a custom web module to enhance their existing application. The application allows the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music to easily prepare and manage newsletter content, preparation for notification by email, and archiving.
Integrated with the website to maintain a consistent look and feel with the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music department website, the front end of the application provides site visitors with an enjoyable interface and an easy to use navigation scheme that continues to allow them quick access to other parts of the website. They are able to browse through topics and click on the articles or notices that interest them most. Site visitors can also easily access archived issues.
The easy to use backend of the application allows assigned site administrators access to the newsletter management area. The site administrator is provided with an integrated, robust word processor providing him with the creative tools necessary to make the desirable visual impact. The application also allows for the upload of images and for flexibility of layout. There is no limit to the number of articles or notices that can be added, making the newsletter able to expand as needed over time.
The added benefit of the online newsletter application is the ability to send branded email notifications to students, faculty, alumni, contributors, and applicants announcing the latest issue of the publication. The online newsletter supports the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music's marketing and public relations communication efforts to maintain and establish both an internal and public connection with the Conservatory in order to recruit new students, raise money from alumni, private and corporate benefactors, and foster a sense of community among students and faculty.
Brooklyn College is taking advantage of the tool prior to the official release to enter in previous issues of the newsletter. This strategy will offer users a rich experience when the new module officially launches in the Fall of 2007.
